CIPRIANI, 25 BROADAY, New-York, Financial District – Commission for Moment Factory

I played a key technical and creative role in the production of SuperReal New York, a groundbreaking immersive digital experience developed by Moment Factory. The project transformed the iconic Cipriani 25 Broadway into a visually stunning, multi-sensory journey blending reality and digital art.

My Role & Key Responsibilities

As a Show Programmer and Creative Technologist, my primary mandate was to bridge the gap between the artistic vision of the creative and multimedia directors and the final technical execution. I was responsible for transforming the work of the creative team into a seamless, cohesive, and interactive public experience using Moment Factory’s proprietary X-Agora software.

Show Programming and Creative Composition: I was responsible for the complete programming of the show’s video projection timeline and its precise sequencing.

Under the supervision of Creative Directors Sakchin Bessette and Melissa Weigel, I acted as a creative integrator. My role was to meticulously “glue” together the diverse creative tableaux composed by the Motion Designers and Multimedia Directors.

This required composing all the transitions between each scene to transform their individual contributions into a unified experience, ensuring the eccentric, high-contrast tableaux were connected in a flowing, narrative, and aesthetically compelling manner.

Pioneering Interactivity and Software QA: I led the technical implementation of the layer of interactivity functions over the pre-baked content, a challenging and new application within the X-Agora platform at that time. I worked closely with the software developers to:

Beta Test the new features in a live production environment.

Identify and document software bugs, providing crucial feedback and follow-up to ensure the User Interface (UI) functioned reliably and as intended for this complex show.

Content Ingestion and Preparation: I handled the critical process of ingesting all final media assets into the X-Agora system, including managing file formats and workflows to ensure content was optimized for the high-resolution, multi-projector setup.

Collaboration: I executed this work with the valuable help and technical support of Jonathan Masterson.

Impact

My expertise as a Creative Technologist ensured the stable delivery and artistic realization of the creative team’s vision. By handling programming, content integration, and pioneering interactive features within X-Agora, I successfully transformed diverse creative assets into a functional, unified, and visually impactful public experience that honored its high-contrast aesthetic.
